BUILDING & ZONING DEPARTMENT  

 

Bloom Township Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 6:30 P.M. at Bloom Township Hall, 8490 Lithopolis Road, Greencastle. The purpose of the hearing is to consider amendments to the zoning resolution as follows:

·          to add Letter “S” to all B1 zoning to allow antique/auction business use

·          To amend BTZR 411which currently says: Five copies of an application for zoning permit shall be signed by the owner or applicant attesting to the truth and exactness of all information supplied on the application. Each application shall clearly state that the permit shall expire and may be revoked if work has not begun within one year or substantially completed with 2 ½ years. AMENDED TO SAY: THE application for zoning permit shall be signed by the owner or applicant attesting to the truth and exactness of all information supplied on the application. Each application shall clearly state that the permit shall expire and may be revoked if work has not BEEN completed with 2 years.

At the conclusion of the deliberations, this matter will be referred to the Bloom Township Board of Trustees for further determination.

The Bloom Township Building and Zoning Department is managed by Bloom Twp. Board Administrator, Anne Darling-Cyphert . Bloom Township's Building Inspector is Don Day who is also the Building Inspector in Violet Twp. Michele Swartz is our Administrative Assistant.

 

The Building and Zoning Department is responsible for issuing permits and performing inspections on all structures and in-ground pools being built in the township. Anyone needing an application may pick them up at the Bloom Township Hall, 8490 Lithopolis Road in Greencastle, Monday thru Thursday, 9:30 AM until 12:00 PM. Applications are also available at The Wagnalls Memorial in Lithopolis. We also have a "INFO BOX" located near the parking lot of our building where applications can be picked up and dropped off providing you call first to request the packets be left there for you.

 

New Residence: 2 acre minimum lot size

  • 150 feet of Road Frontage required

  • 50 feet set-back from edge of road right-of-way

  • 50 feet set-back from rear of property lines

  • 25 feet set-back from right and left property lines

Accessory Building:

  • Must be behind or beside the house

  • 5 feet set-back from rear of property line

  • 25 feet set-back from right and left property lines

  • Square footage must not exceed the size of house
