Bloom Twp. Newsletter Trustees: Carol Moore, Brian Randles, Joseph Smith Fiscal Officer: David Cyphert Message to our Residents: Even at a time when the State of Ohio leaders are finding new ways to reduce funding to local governments, the township has plans to move ahead and continuously improve services to our residents. Through conservative financial management, this will all be done without raising taxes. GOOD NEWS! Bloom Township residents can now take advantage of the low rates offered by the Lancaster Public Transit Service. In September, 2010, Bloom Township Board Trustees agreed to participate in support of the LPTS program that now includes Bloom Township in the service area. LPTS now services all of Fairfield County with the following hours and rates: Monday-Friday 7:00am – 8:00pm and Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm. Fares with advanced reservation are $2 general public, one-way (with 24 hour notice) and $1 on the mobility program. Same day reservation is $5 one-way. Closed Sundays and holidays. In addition to the regular transportation routes for all Bloom Twp. residents, the Mobility Program is also available to anyone age 65 or older or individuals with a permanent disability. Contact LPTS at 740-681-5086 or 888-9-WE-GO-4U. For more information go to the Website: www.ci.lancaster.oh.us/dept/transit Internet and Cable Television Information: One of the frequent questions asked of us is when is the township going to get other internet services or cable TV services in the area. These decisions are totally up to the internet and cable companies. If we had the authority we would love to require these services be offered to our residents. However, our only involvement with these companies is to grant permission to work in the township right-of-way once they decide to bring those services to our area. There are some internet providers that offer DSL and other high speed options. However some areas still do not have this service. They often turn to satellite internet service providers. We know this is so frustrating and several of us here are in the same situation as you are by not having the service available to us. Please know that your township officials are willing to work with all companies that need to use our right-of-way to bring this service to your area as soon as possible.ThE BOARD OF TRUSTEES holds regular meetings the 2nd & 4th Wednesday's of the month at 7:30 p.m. REGULAR MEETINGS ARE HELD AT 8490 LITHOPOLIS ROAD, GREENCASTLE. special MEETINGS may be held from time to time and will be announced ON THE WEBSITE AND ON THE FRONT DOOR AS WELL AS TO ANY NEWS MEDIA REQUESTING NOTICE.
Audit Update: State Auditor Dave Yost is quoted as saying, “Clean financial books are vital to accountability in government.” We are pleased to announce that, once again, Bloom Township has received an excellent audit from the Ohio Auditor of State’s Office. This audit is performed every two years for township governments to ensure all taxpayer funds are properly managed. Reminder About: SIGNS IN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY Our township and county road crews remind us that signs in the right-of-way can be a hazard to our employees & equipment and to the public as well. Township zoning does not allow obstructions to be placed in the right-of-way. We appreciate your assistance in keeping our rights-of-way clear of signs and other obstructions.
